New Digital Kit and New Look at JessicaSprague.com

I'm so happy to share with you a new digital kit with some of my favorite JBS vintage images:

The Writer's Collection contains 8 vintage images in png and abr format.  This means digital scrappers can use them to add embellishments to their layouts or use them as brushes to "stamp" digitally.  Hybrid scrappers can use them on their paper backgrounds, as cut and paste elements and more.

Nirupama Kumar created this hybrid layout using this kit and Jenni Bowlin Studio traditional products.

Here's how Nirupama described her process for creating this hybrid layout:

This was a true hybrid page for me. I created much of the page on my computer, including the title and 12x12 patterned paper. I centered most of my digital elements on the page. It is a great design that I just don't use often enough. I printed out the image on regular white cardstock (the flat side). I'm lucky to have a wide format printer. I love using paper like this with a subtle pattern as a neutral background. I had fun playing around with a few different stencils to give the page a little more definition. I added even more gold with the fabulous new gold doily rub-ons. I printed the faint image of paint nibs on a journaling card in the same tone I used on my background. The addition of the prize ribbon was a no-brainer because of how proud of my boy I am! I love the extra dimension it adds too.

Hi, Gina here today to share a couple of layouts using some brand new JBS goodness!

I've gone for a soft look on this layout and misted the background using the exclusive trellis stencil and spray inks. Another great way to add detail on the background is with the exclusive ink spots stamp and inks to match your chosen spray inks..

I've added in the chipboard clock, vellum butterfly, perforated labels and sage skinny alpha from previous releases..

I think my absolute fave new release product would have to be these pretty doily sequins with such lovely colour variations and texture! I wanted to feature them here so have stitched a few in place across the page...

For this layout, I've used a few of the gorgeous and exclusive papers designed by Lisa Dickinson including this background paper which was perfect for the theatre theme of my page...

Other new products include the "pot of gold" and "classic" sequins, tiny trims gold rub-ons and mini-deck cards. I've also incorporated some vintage dress pattern from my stash

it's hard not to include a few all time fave items from previous JBS lines too..such as stickers, digi-cut file stars, and a few paper scraps

thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping! x

Write On

Howdy folks, it's Natalie here with you today and I wanted to share with you my favourite product of the new release from JBS. Can you guess which it is from the layout?

It's those fabulous gold doily rubons! In fact, it's probably all of the gold bits really because I also couldn't get by without adding the gold speech bubbles and the gold sequins either!

The other new-release products on this page are the smiley flatbacks and the mini-deck card too. The "write" card is in fact where the concept of these layout all started from. My eldest is in her second year of school now and she loves to read and write. She devours books by the stack and when she's not doing that she'll happily get out her pencil and notepad and write down whatever comes to mind.

I have to say it's such a relief to see her enjoying school as much as she does, and I hope to continue encouraging her down this path. But I'm sure I'm not alone in my parental anxiety in wondering if I had done enough (or am doing enough) when she's at home. Am I a good parent? Do I teach her appropriate things? Have I taken her enough places? Should I have read more books to her / filled the house with classical music / made her do dance lessons sooner? etc etc! Slightly neurotic right?!

I took my choice of papers from the August Papercrafting kit to maintain a fairly monochromatic effect with lots of shades of whites and greys but with a vivid splash of red. Most of the papers you see on this layout are the exclusively designed ones by Lisa Dickinson. The chalkboard tag and the journal tag are also from the exclusive paper in the August Historian kit. Just another fabulous reason why you should become a kit subscriber!

And since I barely seem able to stop at just one layout in a session these days I went ahead and thrashed out this card as well. Lots of the same products, lots of scraps of paper but a slightly different colour focus with the addition of sunny yellow.

I rubbed the gold doilies onto vellum before cutting them out, then they're layered up with pink buttons and more gold sequins. It adds quite a glamorous touch don't you think?

Digi Friday: Flag Tags

Hi all!  I hope you are ready for the weekend, I know I am!  And to make it even better, Jenni has got something new for us all over in the Digital Shoppe!

These Flag Tags contain (6) styles of banner shaped tags, that coordinate perfectly with several of your favorite JBS lines and are great for drawing attention to important details, thoughts and stories on your scrapbook pages.

Here I've used a few of the tags to create a fun banner across this page about my son getting ready for his first day of Kindergarten.  I've used one to journal on and the others I've added charming details to including an embroidered monogram and a stamped image.

School Bound by Amy Kingsford | Supplies: Jenni Bowlin Studio Digitals: Flag Tags, Wren Collection, Birds and branches Brush Set; Chalboard Alpha Red; Karla Dudley: Blah (background paper); Creashens: Bliss (banner w/ clips and deckle edge frames)

Chrissy Guido has also used these fabulous tags to capture her own Back to School memories, in a page about purchasing her daughter's Kindergarten supplies. I love how she's mixed these tags with some of Jenni's school-themed products!

If You Give a Girl Some Sequins

It all started with a photo and some sequins. My son had a wonderful afternoon in the pool with a friend. This led to him getting a minor sunburn on his cheeks. While sitting in traffic, I decided to snap a photo. He had that awesome glow one gets after time in the sun. You know the one...the sort of lazy, relaxed but energized glow you get from summer. Anyway, here I was with this great photo of those sunkissed cheeks. I even had a title all ready to go in my head! All I needed was to choose some products to create a layout with. I knew right away I wanted to use sequins from the latest release.

My first thought was to grab my new package of Doily Sequins. I stamped a grid backgroundwith some Brown Sugar ink and begin happily stitching them to the grid. I have to say that I am in love with the soft shimmer and the texture of the doily sequins. They are so delicate and yet they have such a fun vibe.

After finishing the background, I added the photo, title and the rest of my embellishments. I liked what I had but somehow, there was still something missing. I tried a few things and finally decided it was time to set the layout aside for awhile. After all, I did have an awesome stencil to play with. I set about stenciling with black gesso on a box I plan to alter. That's when it happened. PLOP! I dropped the stencil and the corner landed on the bottom of the layout. My heart sank.

At this point, there was only one thing to do...add more splotches of black gesso. After inspecting my handiwork, I decided it needed just a little something else. Sequins to the rescue! I cracked open the classic assortment of sequins and sprinkled a few over the gesso splotches. They proved to be just the right amount of sparkle. Sometimes accidents have happy endings.

The new release sequins are one of my favorite products right now. How about you? Share your favorite new release products with us in the JBS Mercantile forum.

captured

Hi everyone!
This is Ashley today, with a layout I made using some of the newest releases from Jenni Bowlin Studio.

To start with, I seriously heart the floral lace stamp. I made a whole series of little cards by heat embossing the floral lace pattern in different colours... pale aqua, pale pink, bright pink, metallic silver, and metallic gold. I used watercolours to fill in some colour behind the stamped pattern, and then painted a little frame around each one. I loved these little cards so much, I made another whole set... and I might make more still. :)

These little watercolour pieces were the foundation for the layout. I tucked the photo mini deck card in there, too, because it was too perfect and too appropriate not to have a home on this page.

I love this photo of my Great-Aunt Maggie, in her garden, photographing my girls. Many years ago, now. This was something she did for every visitor. I remember being my girls' ages in this photo, and standing in her garden, while she took my photo with my sister...

Aunt Maggie had a special knack for also photographing you when you least expecting it, and completely unaware. She was like a guerilla photographer.

And one day, when she was photographing my girls in her garden, as she did with me all those years ago, I guerilla'd her right back, and caught her unaware. When she did realize, I took this photo... typical Aunt Maggie, captured. In her garden. With her camera. Hand up, head back, laughing.

I thought this photographer's stamp "for film and negatives" was perfect to include as a little faux-ephemera detail on this page. My great aunt was an avid and talented photographer, and just as no visit was complete without photos in the garden, no memory of her is complete without thinking of her camera always close at hand... her banks of photo albums... or even just remembering that up until a few years before her death she still always photographed in slide film and sent her film away for processing by mail.

I added some details down the side of of the page using the new JBS paint splatter stamp. I randomly stamped the splatters along each side as a border, and heat embossed. Then I layered gesso, watercolour, mists over top.

All fabulous JBS~

Hi everyone!!!  I have a fun re-purpose for you, using the vintage slide bingo card, from the Mercantile.

Here is mine re-purposed into a photo display~

I loved the performance of the new gold Rub-Ons!.  No tear or break, just used my nail and they went on perfectly.  The mini frame is a junkin' find (50 cents).  The photo is clipped on with a cloths pin, decorated with a "To Do" Sticker.  I also used the new gold Sequins and Flash Cards.   Next up, three scrapbooking pages that are about 98% all Jenni~

Check out the new pointed star Stencil.  So easy to use and just wiped clean.  Here is where I used some of that 2% that is not Jenni.

On this one it has a new Flat Back embellishment, that is perfect for this page.  The Flat Back says, "this is my happy face". Look at my hubby's grin:)  The Flat Backs are so cool and look so great on pages and projects.  This one is adhered with a foam adhesive square.

What I love about JBS is the product  never gets dated.  This is Wren and It is still one of my favorite paper lines. This page has some chipboard (star), journal card, and tickets ~ all older product. Still fabulous:):) !
Thanks for stopping by and check out the Mercantile to see all the new releases. Oh, and don't forget the Flea Market section~way cool finds in there!!!
