Guest Designer Monique Liedtke

Hi, I’m Monique Liedtke and I live in Europe, in The Netherlands, with my husband, 3 kids (Manon
17, Timothy 15 and Mats 9) and our Cocker Spaniel, Jippie. I started scrapbooking about 11 years ago and am totally addicted; there’s nothing I’d rather do! I don’t have my own scrap room, but I guess you could say I have claimed just about the whole house! I would love to spend every day scrapping from morning till night, but as that’s not possible I work part-time in a small HR office in town. There are many reasons why I love this fabulous hobby; of course because I’m preserving our
memories, but also because of all the new friends I’ve made and last but not least because it helps
in clearing my head in my busy and hectic life: when I scrap I forget everything and anything. Bliss!
My scrap pages are always full of colors and details. My favorite techniques are layering, sewing (both with the sewing machine and by hand), using inks (but not too much) and using lots of Silhouette cuts. If you want to see my projects, please visit my blog:
www.moniquesscrapbook.blogspot.com.

I’m thrilled to guest design for Jenni Bowlin this month! It’s a dream come true!

I find it hard to pick a favorite from the layouts I created with the June papercrafting kit, as I just adore this kit: the colors are so awesome: red is my favorite color, especially combined with golden accents! But if I have to choose a favorite I would say “Love is made for 2”. I almost never use black as a background for my layouts, but when I sanded this black cardstock I just loved what appeared!

What you see in the photo is my little scrapping niche in the annex of our living room. We don’t have enough room in our house to allow for my own studio, but I don’t mind, I love this little place and it’s totally mine! And small means I have everything within reach!

Having my scrap space in the living room means that I have to tidy up often, but it has its advantages too: it allows me to scrapbook every minute I’m home and still be with my kids!

My favorite photo would be this photo of my family and my dad and (step)mother right now. We took this last month when we paid my dad and his wife a (week long) surprise visit at their apartment in Spain; we had such a special time together! I lost my mom and (step)dad during the last 4 years and that makes me appreciate moments like these even more!

......but it is winter 'Down Under'!!! :)

Hello hello :)

Sooooo the team have been sharing some Summer themed creative fun with you this month but I am all rugged up and lamenting that I didnt really have a summer [I spent a months holiday in the US experiencing lotsa cold and snow LOL] at the peak of the Australian Summer.

Today I am sharing with you a few layouts that my current faves from creating with the Jenni Bowlin Studio May & June papercrafting kits. I dont usually creating using bold, colourful print papers. So I challenged myself to create using those patterend papers that I would usually run a mile from. And I must say I was happy with the result.

Well that is it from me for the moment, I do hope you are enjoying the teams fabulous inspiration this month?!!!! :)

Cheers and happy scrapping,

Louise :) xxx

Christy's Creative Space

Hello! It's Christy and it's my turn to share my creative space. I have to warn you. It's an unusual spot. However, it's my first ever dedicated creative space and I am so grateful to have it. I am an American expat living in Nassau, Bahamas. My family tends to move every two to three years. Currently, we're renting an older townhome which comes with a few quirks. One of those quirks just happens to be a walk-in closet with a built in desk and shelving. This has become the space in which I create.

Over the year or so that we have lived here, I have managed to spread a bit outside the closet. At the entrance is a narrow section which features my cutting station. I have a shelving unit with a large trimmer and my big shot with dies stored in wooden crates. The bottom shelf is filled with plastic tubs of paints, mists and inks. I store my cardstock across from the cutting station. It's sorted by color into plastic drawers. My sewing machine sits atop the cardstock. You will have to pardon the National Lampoon's style wires showing. There are no plugs in the closet.
The built in desk is L shaped. I have added a Raskog cart to give me a little more desk space. I have also taken advantage of the vertical space. Kits are stored in two gallon zip loc bags which I hang from a rod using coat hangers and clothespins. Under the desk are more Sterilite style containers with embossing powders, punches, and embellishments. I store tags and embellishments inside the cart as well. At my feet, are shelves which house older patterned paper and baskets of 6x6 paper pads. I also have a cubby for my Silhouette Portrait.I keep my lap top on the desk at all times. Since space is limited, I also leave up my video recording equipment. It's mounted to the PVC pipe frame.

One of the Sterilite containers on the desk houses my tools. I have them sorted into silverware containers so that I can find them easily.

I have a small shelving unit which houses jars of sequins and small embellishments. I also keep my ink pads here as well. Can you tell I have an obsession with date stampers? My cats often like to hang out with me while I work. I have a box with a soft blanket for them to lie in. I like to keep baby wipes on my desk. I'm not near a source of water. So the wipes make for a nice quick way to tidy up if I am working with something messy.
The closet extends back behind me with floor to ceiling shelves.I house my albums on the upper shelves. Sterilite containers hold my other supplies on the lower shelves. I have my letter stickers sorted by color on the left. On the right, I have die cuts, stickers, and chipboard sorted by theme.

One of the few vintage items I own is a metal drawer I found the the JBS Mercantile Flea Market. I store my most current pocket page supplies in it along with a few favorite stamps.

This is my favorite item in my creative space. My dad found this camera when I was a little girl. He gave it to my sister and I. We kept it with our dress-up clothes and would pretend to be photographers.

What I Love About My Space
I love how cozy my space is. Despite it's small size, I have been able to make it function well. It's also very portable. It's easy to tape the drawers shut and move them around. Perfect for someone like me who moves often.
What I Would Change About My Space
I wish I had a window for more natural light. I also wish I had a bigger desk with enough space for all three of my cats to hang out at the same time.

Thank you for visiting my space!

Summer Scrapping: 7-Day Summer

One of the perks of being a mother who is also a teacher is being able to spend summer vacation with my daughter. This year, however, she is studying abroad for two months, half a world away from me. When she returns, it will no longer be summer, so before she left, we had a seven-day summer together, doing the things that we usually do together at this time of year.
The JBS Mercantile June kits include an array of papers and accents that seem made for summer pages like this one.

At the bottom of the page, I misted over the exclusive stencil found in the June Papercrafting kit. The kit also includes the numbers in a die-cut version.
The chipboard letters and shapes found in the Historian kit made their way on to the layout in the title as well as in the gathering of accents on the page.
I know that even without my daughter here, it is still summer, and I am still on vacation, but I am grateful for those short but sweet days that we were able to spend together before she embarked on her great adventure.

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Dose of Hybrid and Digi Inspiration

At SnapClickSupplyCo we have a sale going on today Wednesday as there is every Wednesday! Hope on over and you'll find 2 of our popular digital kits on sale

Looking for some inspiration?  Nirupama Kumar created this lovely hybrid layout:

So pretty, so airy, so light, isn't it?  All supplies are Jenni Bowlin Studio - there are a lot of traditional supplies here, and the "blessings" card is from one of our digital kits on sale.

This layout by Carrie Arick is 100% digital, but her style gives the impression of a tangible layout, doesn't it?  Most of Carrie's supplies are JBS Digital.

Thank you ladies for sharing your talent!

summer scrapbooking - look to the horizon

I really, really enjoyed working with the June kits this month! I felt like everything was very versatile and pretty. (Always a good thing!) Even this particular paper - the one that I used for the background was perfect for beach photos, even though at first glance it looks like something for a road trip.

I love that we're celebrating summer this month. Our summers are always crazy - filled with birthdays, tons of pool time, and of course, trips to the beach. Hope you're enjoying yours!

Summer Scrapping: Circles & Squares

We're celebrating all things summer this month at JBS, and I couldn't be happier! I love the bright colors and fun themes that accompany warm weather scrapping. Today I'm mixing some pieces from the June Mercantile Kits (Papercrafting and Historian - both of which are still available!) with Modern Mercantile papers and wood veneer. In addition, I'm combining rectangles and circles for a fun, energetic look.

I snapped this shot of Riely and her best friend Cassidy a few weeks ago on the last day of school. They were excitedly discussing all their big plans for summer, which included lots of playdates, sleepovers, and attending theater camp together.

S U P P L I E S :

For the base layer, I used the Plus One stencil and some acrylic paint to add a bit of color and texture to my cardstock.  Then I layered some paper scraps and journaling cards to form a loose grid around the photo.

The heart on one of the journaling cards was a perfect place to type in a bit of journaling. Then, to add a sense of motion and energy to the page, I cut some thin circles from coordinating cardstock as well as cutting out a circular title for my page. I arranged these three circular elements in a triangle around my photo. Both the circles and the rounded corners on the papers and photo help to soften all the straight lines and add a "flow" to the page.

A few simple embellishments - a sticker, a vintage ticket, and wooden buttons (that also relate to the circles!) are all I needed to finish this page.

The combination of circles and squares can work with so many summer page themes, from baseball to beach balls, bike riding to frisbee games, pizza parties to road trips! Together they can help you create a dynamic, lively page to tell all your summer stories.

Happy Scrapping!

It's Time to Play!

It's One Buck Wednesday at Snap Click Supply Co and we have two playful and fun digital kits on sale today:

Audrey Tan,  Cassie Wiscarson, and Chantalle McDaniel both created layouts with these kits in different ways!

Audrey and Cassie created digital layouts:

Supplies: Playful Embellishment Kit. Also, Bright Travels, Sunny Days Pocket Stuffers, Frame Rub-ons.

Aren't these so much fun?!

Chantalle is a hybrid scrapper and she created her playful layout by printing and cutting embellishments from the kit and combining them with traditional product.  She even created her own "flair" with the star embellishment from the Playful Embellishment Kit! Here's her work with her notes on how she created this layout:

I’ve been waiting to scrap this photo for ages - two very important men in my life, bonding over technology! With it’s bright colours and fun sentiments, the JBS Playdate Collection was the perfect choice.

For the base paper, I have printed ‘Naptime’ Playdate digital paper onto card stock and stitched it in place with my sewing machine. I have also printed and trimmed the Playdate  cards. They are great for layering!

Paper ‘Playful Buttons’ from the Playful Embellishment kit have been printed, punched and threaded to make them look more realistic.

Stars are still on my agenda lately. Here I have used a printed star button and popped it into my Epiphany Crafts tool to create an epoxy sticker. How cute are those mini domino chipboards!!

Supplies:
Digital:

JBS Playdate Collection
JBS Playful Embellishment Kit

Traditional:

JBS Gold Pennants Rub-ons
JBS Gold Labeled Rub-ons
JBS ‘Fun Times’ flashcards
JBS Printed dominoes chipboard

We hope you've enjoyed all this inspiration with our kits on sale today!
