Spring Training Continues: Hidden Journaling

With all of this Spring Training going on, hopefully you've found your momentum by now and are keeping pace with the daily challenges.  If not, just sprint forward to today's challenge, which is a fun one:  hide your journaling!  Not permanently, of course, but just enough to create a delightful and interactive element on a project (although it is kind of mind-blowing to think of a "secret" message written on the back of a photo, that will never be discovered, but that was put out into the universe nonetheless).

Time for a little hide and seek.  Can you spot the hidden journaling on this page from the May Mercantile gallery?

The journaling kind of "sprouts" from this layout, adding to the "homegrown" theme at the heart of it.

Our May Customer Spotlight is on Alexa Gill!

Our customer spotlight winner this month is Alexa Gill aka Curlywiggles! We first met Alexa at the "Be Our Guest Crop" where she completed many of our challenges and posted them in our customer gallery. What a charming style she has!

This week we found her lovely work with JBS posted on Facebook. This layout was inspired by a challenge in Jenni's current class with Big Picture Classes. Of course, if you check out her blog, you will find lots more treasures like the delightful spring layout below.

Stamping a Patterned Background

You've seen some great ideas for using the JBS butterfly stamp this week from Michelle, Stephanie and Jill. Today I wanted to share another way: making your own patterned paper!
I pulled out three ink colors: Fountain Pen, Chewing Gum and Chili Powder, along with a piece of ivory cardstock. I wanted a softer look to my stamping, so to keep the stamped image from being too bold, I "unloaded" some of the ink onto a scrap piece of paper before stamping on my cardstock. I alternated between the three ink colors, overlapping each stamp just a bit:

You could cover your entire your background cardstock this way if you wanted, but I cut it down and mounted it on a pink background for my page:

I finished the page off with lots of bits & baubles from JBS, including a mini bingo card, tickets, vellum butterfly, chipboard button, sew-on button and rhinestone button.

Another Lovely Lift by Becky Novacek

We have another lovely lift to share with you today. This one is by Becky Novacek who was inspired by "Love You" by Danielle Flanders.

Becky writes, "I have admired Danielle's layout of her and her husband for a while, so I couldn't resist scraplifting it for this!

Here are my thoughts on scraplifting...(not that you asked : ): I think it can be a wonderful thing, when credit is given and no profit is gained by the lifter. I love it when someone lifts me and gives me credit."
