It's Funny by Stephanie Howell

Today we have a poignant layout with heartfelt journaling from Stephanie Howell. The journaling reads, "it's funny. in may, when this photo was snapped, all i saw was that my arms looked big. not a good are blurry and out of silly. now 2 months later all i can think about is how much i miss you. and how handsome you are. how much i miss your smile. and how i was so happy in this photo. come home soon. the heart of our home is missing."

Stephanie says, "I could have just scrapbooked this photo and talked about our date night, but I chose deeper journaling."

Note: She stamped the dots with a pencil eraser and malted milk.

  1. Love this - too sweet and just lovely!

  2. So many questions. I am a novice scrapbooker. So does that paper come in that shape? What about the flowers. Are they stamped and then cut out with a scissors or cut from a printed scrapbook papers. So many details that I can't seem to grasp the time commitment needed for one page.

  3. I love your deeper journaling...sniff, sniff. And you cropped the arms, LOL! It all worked out great!

  4. Hi Karen,

Yes! That background paper is a diecut that comes shaped like that. You can find it here: and Stephanie added the dots with some paint and a pencil eraser. The flowers were cut from this piece of patterned paper: it's one of our all time favorites. :)

  5. Oh the dots with the pencil eraser. How clever is that??? Sweet tender layout.

  6. @Karen, yes, you can buy paper that is already in that shape (it is called die cut paper.) Don't worry about being able to emulate an experienced scrapbooker like Stephanie if you are just starting out! Concentrate on what you like best about the page. Do what *you* like, what makes you happy. Welcome to the best hobby in the world.

  7. Really amazing....And also close to heart. It all worked out great!
