Digital (and Hybrid) Ideas for Christmas from Chantalle!

If you are looking for a quick idea for your festive table or some super fast, custom gift wrap, look no further than the brilliant Vintage Christmas 2 collection, which is on sale right now.

Gift wrap is so easy to create and sure to impress. I simply printed off A4 sheets (at full bleed if your printer has that setting) of the prints available in the collection.

I have covered some kraft rolls from a DIY cracker kit in my printed paper. Stuff with some sweets and a joke and they will be a hit at your Christmas get together.

Custom gift wrap adds a special touch to presents.

I’ve teamed my wrapping with some JBS Rub-ons, some twine and ribbon as well as a Vintage Christmas tag and JBS feather tag.

Festive Countdown Notes

During the festive season, my diary is jam-packed. So many little things to remember, the Postit notes start to pile up!

I have created this flip style note pad for when the days get busier.

Using the ‘Countdown Stars’ as a guide, I have created an additional number 25 and used my Epiphany round tool to create a charm.

The title was cut on my Silhouette Cameo. I have used ‘Season’s Greetings’ from the Vintage Christmas Words kit.

• Inside, there are 24 note pages. I created them by setting up 9 boxes across an A4 page in a word processing programme (I use Indesign). I have then filled each box with a different patterned paper from the 'Vintage Christmas’ and 'Vintage Christmas 2’ kits. Create another 2 pages and fill those boxes with patterned paper too. Some had to be repeated, but you can have fun with the sizes of the prints so they look different.

• Create a white overlay over the top so you can see your writing.

• Once you are happy with your set up, simply print and trim the cards up! Punch a few holes at the top and pop a couple of album rings in.

• You can keep the notebook as is, or you can create a simple stand by folding a strip of sturdy card into a triangular shape. Make sure to punch some holes at the top of the stand too, so your notes attach via the album rings.

The inside pages have been simply embellished with Advent Stars from the Vintage Christmas 2 Kit (printed at diameter of 25mm across and punched) and my favourite Gold Rubon Stars.

I'm sure this is not news to you as JBS fans, but one of the things I admire most about the collections Jenni designs is that they're timeless. So even though this card is made with paper from what is called the "Christmas 2012" collection you would never know for looking at it right?

I've paired it with some newer products that aren't at all Christmas related and yet still look at home here such as the Silver Feather rubons, and the Happy Speech Bubble flatbacks. And that gold leaf? Well... I have to admit that just fell off our Christmas tree.. it's not a scrapping product at all! Just consider it upcycling - another thing Jenni is so good at ;-)

To satisfy the arty in me I've used some gesso through the exclusive star stencil that came in the June papercrafting kit to add some background detail. But the star stamp that came in the November kit would also work well with some embossing powder.

Christmas gifts and more~

Hi everyone~Connie here with some quick and easy gift ideas.  These do not take much time to make at all~so the good news, you still have time to craft!!!!

 

I used the super cute Silhouette mini deck of cards, to hold my lapel pin.  It is put together using the doily flowers {one of my faves}, old buttons, {JBS buttons} and a lapel pin set.

 

 

 

This is how the back looks!  I hot glued most of it!!! The next project~

 

 

I bought these adding machine key pieces from Jenni when I met her in Austin.  All I did was use a JBS button and hot glued a tack to the back of it~ like this.

The packaging is a re-purposed container that I covered with JBS Christmas 2012 paper, and tied it up with twine and super cute!!  I'm thinkin' I'm gonna put my name on this one:):):)

Next up~

 

 

 

I used the Silhouette mini deck and the tag paper and made some gift tags or they look pretty cute on the tree!!  I added some trim and the JBS chipboard buttons also.

 

 

This one is for all you junkers' out there like me~old door knob {I added inka-gold to the knob to make it shine}, wire~ heavy is all I can tell you, ribbon and JBS stickers, button and Christmas chipboard button.  Once the wire is twisted and put through the JBS button holes, hot glue it in the center hole of the door knob. 

 

 

The last project took the longest, but you still have time:):):) really, not that long!!!!

 

 

On these Christmas trees you need the Tim Holtz rosette dies or snowflake die and some cool JBS paper.  I used Wren for these!!  The embellishments are all JBS!!!  I have enjoyed sharing these holiday projects with you and wish you and yours a very merry happy holiday!!

Christmas Tree lapel pin~

 

Hi everyone just a quick post to share with you a fun and fast JBS project.  I used the chipboard banner pieces and turned them up side down {starting to look like a tree:):)}and then covered with my favorite JBS pattern paper.  On mine I used Wren.  The tree trunk is made from a thickers letter.  I laid the tree and the tree trunk on felt and hot glued the pieces to the felt.  Then I cut around the tree and glueing the lapel pin on the back.

 

 

The tree star is the new Rhinestone stars.  They come in three colors silver, black and red!!!

These Christmas Tree lapel pins would look great on a special Christmas card or tag.

Sweet Memory..

Hi everyone, it's Gina here sharing a Christmas layout with you today..A favorite thing about the Christmas season in our house is the abundance of delicious treats! My girls and I just love baking and since we celebrate Christmas in Australia during summer, a very popular dessert here is pavlova - a meringue nest topped with whipped cream and fresh berries and raspberry coulis..YUM! 

On this layout I've folded, stapled and stitched a strip of diecut perforated stencil paper. The chipboard button has been painted with a couple of JBS dabbers then written on with a white gel pen.. I love being able to alter plain chipboard because I can bring in colours to balance the layout...in this case it helps balance the strong green alpha stickers on the opposite side..

Repurposed Advent Calendar

Hey everyone!  It's Jenni Hufford here with you today to share an advent calendar.  One of my favorite Christmas projects is to "repurpose"Christmas decor I purchased the year before on clearance!   

Last year I bought an advent calendar from Target right after Christmas.   It was very cute "as is" (photo below), but I wanted to add a special handmade touch to it.

I took various papers from Jenni's Christmas 2012 collection and measured the paper to fit the advent door exactly.  I kept a perfect measurement as a template and cut out the rest of the papers.

 I used a regular hole punch to create room for the door knob for each advent door.  Next, I adhered the papers onto the calendar using Mod Podge and a sponge brush.

When deciding where to place the different pattern papers, I kept same pattern papers from touching and within separate columns and rows.  I used a combination of kraft papers, pattern papers, journaling cards, and mini papers for the coverings of each door.

Once the mod podge has dried, the fun part begins-- embellishing!

On each door I made sure to include the date number and some sort of embellishment.  

And finally, it's time to fill each door with candy or a prize.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Hi JBS fans! It's Natalie here today sharing some of my Christmas Memories.

I don't know about you but I've been truly inspired by all the Christmas craft projects that the DT and Ambassadors have been bringing you over the past few weeks. So many fabulous ideas for cards and tags and gifts and home deco! If you've missed any of it then it's definitely worth your while scrolling back through.

But for the coming week we're going to turn our attention back to our more traditional craft form... the layout ;-)

There's something magical about watching the joy on my daughter's faces as they open their presents on Christmas morning, and I was so happy to be able to capture this moment. But because they're still dressed in their (blue and purple) pajamas in the photo I wanted to balance that out in the colours I chose to scrap with. So along with the traditional green and red I included some grey and blue too. I've decided I quite like the combination!

I used a mixture of non-Christmas products (like the Bank Statement paper I used as my base, and the Printed Pocket I hid my journaling in) along with some of the new Christmas collection (like my favourite Christmas Ribbon paper). And personally I believe no Christmas layout is complete without a touch of sparkle so I covered some chipboard stars with silver glass glitter and scattered them across my page as my embellishments.

After Christmas I generally move on, so I've got all of my photos from last year still to scrap. What about you, what Christmas Memories have you got to scrap about?

Junque Journals for Christmas

I love mass producing crafts for the holidays. This year, I'm making "junque journals" to give as hostess gifts or to top gift packages.

These are easy to create assembly line style and one sheet of Vintage Christmas 2011 Mini Patterned Sheet will make three journals.

A row of 3 squares of the Mini Patterned Sheet will serve as the journal cover and base. Here is the method I used to assemble these. You can make many journals at one time this way.

1. Create your "junque" pages by cutting up a bunch of old paper you may have around: ledger paper, graph paper, and notebook paper to a size of 3.75 inches square. Punch 2 holes in the top of the paper and place long gold brads in them. Punching through a lot of paper at once is easy with a Cropadile Model II.

2. Cut the Mini Patterned Paper sheet so you have three blocks across and score in-between each block.

3. Adhere the packet of note paper onto a square of chipboard 3.75 inches square with a strong glue (Alene's Tacky Glue for example) and glue this onto the inside of the middle square.

4. Cut about 1/4 inch off the right side of the patterned paper so it will fold over the pack of paper nicely when closed.

5. Decorate the front cover by stamping the Cabbage Flower stamp on off-white cardstock in gold and Stick Candy paint. Cut them out and score each in half. Glue the front half of the image to the front cover and further decorate with German foil and JBS Vintage Sew-on buttons and buttons from your stash. Fold over the Cabbage Flower image and adhere on the inside just along the bottom to make a small pocket and to cover any stitches that may show.

 
6. Cut the December calendars from the Christmas 2012 Calendar Sheet. Mat them onto gold paper and adhere to the inside back cover of the journal.

7. Tie a ribbon around the button on the front, wrap around the journal, and wind around the button again to hold closed.

Hotel Key Holder~Christmas style!!!

 

Hi everyone ~ Connie here with my first blog post for Jenni Bowlin Studio (whoop!!)  I have made a Perpetual Calendar, for the little peeps in my life,  using the Hotel Key Holder {favorite product alert}. 

The flower Rosette's are made using the Tim Holtz die.  The paper is from the JBS Christmas Collection 2011 and 2012.  I also used lots of JBS embellishments to decorate with!!!

You still have plenty of time to make this~stay inspired!!!!!
