Spotlight on Vintage: Old School Meets Back to School

Ledger papers, cards, labels, book pages, and more: this month's kits at JBS Mercantile include vintage elements that make delightful additions to projects and pages.

The vintage elements on this layout, which documents the first week back to school, help to set the tone of the page and add extra layers of meaning.
The ledger papers from the kits remind me of the lists and charts that I deal with all the time as a teacher. The numbered ledger paper from the August Papercrafting Kit, for instance, brings to mind the numbers in a roll book.
I worked a few squares of the paper into the grid design, accenting them by running tape over the columns and sprinkling the glass glitter from the Antiquarian Kit over the lines.

One of the classes that I am teaching this year, as I mention in the journaling, is Folklore and Mythology. The vintage cards (from the Antiquarian Kit) containing references to fairy tales and folk tales are right at home on this page, as is the image of a queen from a vintage label.
To give a few of the items on the page a boost, I placed them atop a few of the butter pat squares from the Papercrafting Kit.

I printed the journaling on the back of a check and tucked it behind the layers of the grid, which is backed by book pages and labels that I flipped over.

The idea of "fresh vintage" is definitely evident in this month's kits!
