Farewell Danielle . . .

It is with very mixed emotions that I that write a farewell note to the Jenni Bowlin Studio design team. I have been debating letting go some of my responsibities to spend more time with my family; it was not an easy decision to make, because I truly enjoy working with everyone at JBS. This team is one of the most talented in my eyes! They are also all really some of the nicest ladies in the scrapbooking world and the comradery is wonderful. Jenni is the sweetest to work for, and I wish her all the best successes! I would like to express my sincere appreciation to her for everything she does for us. It has been a great pleasure working here. I will still be crafting and doing what I love when I'm able to, so please drop by my blog from time to time. :) Best wishes to you all.

Autograph Book by Danielle Flanders

From the JBS Mercantile June Papercrafting Kit, I made this little autograph book for my daughter to have all of her friends sign it at the end of the school year. She could add their photos inside as well. I was inspired by the "autograph" card. I added a new Jenni Bowlin stamp here on the front, the notebook paper edge. It's stamped onto one of the patterned papers that has text on it with a green ink. Love stamping over patterned paper!

I cut several of the papers - all different sizes for the mini book. On this page, I dressed it up with more places for the kids to leave their notes to my daughter by punching 2" circles and added creme paint around the edges.

These pages were cut from the new accessory sheet and leave lots of room for autographs. The stickers are exclusive to the June Kit.

When you are creating the pages, keep in mind the two pages that will be facing each other and choose colors and embellishments that coordinate.

Here I cut the 4X4" squares a little bit larger to add more of the differing patterns to my page.

Here I added some vellum butterflies and a little stamped sentiment from my stash.

This is the frame stamp that comes in the kit. I stamped it twice and put one right side up and one upside down to create more places for my daughter's friends to leave notes in the book.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! We truly hope yours is a blessed one. Here is a Mother's Day card from Danielle Flanders with a beautiful hand stamped background featuring Lemon Drops, Chewing Gum, and Cough Syrup inks with some leftover bits from past kits. I just love this color combination and how vividly the inks pop from the white background. Thanks for the inspiration Danielle!

Another Lovely Lift by Becky Novacek

We have another lovely lift to share with you today. This one is by Becky Novacek who was inspired by "Love You" by Danielle Flanders.

Becky writes, "I have admired Danielle's layout of her and her husband for a while, so I couldn't resist scraplifting it for this!

Here are my thoughts on scraplifting...(not that you asked : ): I think it can be a wonderful thing, when credit is given and no profit is gained by the lifter. I love it when someone lifts me and gives me credit."

Daniel Flanders and the Dime Store Kit

Today we have the brilliant stylings of Danielle Flanders working with our new Dime Store Kit. She is so good with the details! My favorite is the flowers and pearl peeking out of that half circle at the top. Which detail is your favorite? This is what Danielle says . . .

"I've been wanting to scrap this large photo of my daughter from last fall, but instead of writing about "fall" per se, I decided to journal about her age and how I wish she could stay little forever. Five years of nurturing her have just flown by. I cut the 12 x 12" die cut paper into 4 pieces and layered 2 of the pieces on the right hand side. The number 5 is cut out of one of the journaling cards. I added a pop of red with some felt and twine from my stash."

"I cut a number five out of the journaling card in the kit with a Papertrey Ink die and added the journaling card to a kraft card base to really make the 5 stand out! I used a chipboard button from the kit, added a journaling sticker, a punched star from the orange star paper and a blue rub on star from the alphas in the kit. I cut a word out from the text paper to add to the sentiment of the birthday card.

Having birthday cards on hand are great for all the parties my girls are invited to, so I think I'm going to make more of these. The journaling cards are the perfect size for this application."

Faux Crochet Tutorial from Danielle Flanders

A fun faux crochet tutorial from Danielle Flanders! Hooray! She says, "I love the look of crocheted flowers, but I don't know how to crochet, so I came up with a fun and easy technique to make a faux one to use on my layouts and cards!" Here's how:

Step 1: Cut the yellow yarn in the kit into 3 equal pieces. Tie them together at one end in a knot.

Step 2: Braid the entire length of the yarn. Tie the other end into a knot as well and trim the excess.

Step 3: Punch a circle (1" or 2" depending on the length of your yarn or how large you want your flower to be). Apply adhesive.

Step 4: Starting in the center, adhere one end. Wrap around until all the way finished. Tuck end underneath to the bottom and adhere.

Now you can layer it with other items to make a flower, or fill in the center with a button and stick pin.

A Home Full of Memories from Danielle Flanders

Continuing Jenni Bowlin for Ranger spotlight month with a charming card by Danielle Flanders . . .

I painted the postage stamp chipboard frame with the Seed Packet Paint Dabber by Ranger, then I ran a little bit of the creme paint dauber over the top to shabby it up and tone down the color just a bit. The red chipboard heart is painted with the Cough Syrup Paint Dabber, and I used one of Jenni's frame stamps also with Cough Syrup Ink to ground the little house, so it wasn't floating on my card. It also adds another nice little touch of red to the bottom of the card.

I Love You To Pieces by Danielle Flanders

I was thinking of Valentine sayings for cards when this saying popped into my head, then I immediately thought of a patchwork heart with pieces of different patterned papers! So, I found a Jenni Bowlin chipboard heart in my stash and cut it into 3 pieces, then covered it with some of her new mini papers from the new "Be Our Guest" line. The sentiment was printed onto the card base with my printer before I added the calendar die cut and heart. The little rose was made using Jenni's crepe paper and twisting it into a flower shape, then I adhered it over one of Jenni's buttons. I love the sunny colors against the clean white background! To me, it feels warm and shabby, yet clean and happy.

Holiday Star Ornaments by Danielle Flanders

Jenni Bowlin supplies used: Red/Black Extension 12 x 12" papers and mini papers, Red Vintage Sew On Buttons, Chipboard Stars. Wooden spools are from the JBS November Add-on kit. Other: Pom pom trim by May Arts, tinsel and empty ribbon spool: craft supply.

Step 1: Gather up 2 large chipboard stars, some tinsel and a red button. Cut a long slit in one of the stars.

Step 2: Cover stars with the new Red/Black Extension III line. (front and back)

Step 3: Slide one star onto the other. Adhere.

Step 4: Wrap silver tinsel and white pom pom trim around star to dress it up. Thread button with white thread and attach to star.

Step 5: Repeat with 2 small chipboard stars from the same package. Find an empty ribbon spool, cover with paper and add pom pom trim to the top edge. Place small star inside.

Santa's List by Danielle Flanders

I know Halloween isn't over yet, but it's nearing the time for me to start thinking about Christmas, presents and all that goes with it! I decided to turn one of the little mini albums into a notebook to keep in my purse to remind me of my to-do list for the holidays! I made a section for each of my daughters (marked by tabs/tickets) where I am going to have them write in what they would like for Christmas! I can then keep this with me to refer to it when needed. When the holidays are over, I will add photos of them opening their gifts, and voila! I have a mini album complete from the start of the holiday to the end. I love that I'll have their handwritten wish lists in here to keep forever.

I love the Family Tree line for the holidays with it's reds and greens. I covered the front of the album with the yellow mini paper from the Family Tree mini paper pack. To get a star punched out of it, I had to trim off the corner of the paper and slide my star punch in. It was the perfect size punch to match the star already in the mini album! Then I added a red star sticker and pearl down inside on the first page.

A Silver Receipt rub on was added to the front cover and Black Ledger Sticker Alphas, along with a few more strips of paper. On the inside, I covered a chipboard star with a green 12" x 12" piece of Family Tree paper and punched a hole to attach it inside the book. To finish, I tied a ribbon around the rings and added a new Vintage Christmas button and pin. The little Santa was actually the one who inspired this project!
