Gettin' More At the Dime Store

That is with the Dime Store Kit I mean! Check it out, over 35 percent off retail and you get a ton of goodies! Like two packs of journaling cards, 12 sheets of paper, a sheet of die cut paper, a pack of vellum butterflies, a gold floral rub on, letter and banner stickers, two house cards, and the mini circle book. The floral paper I used here reminds me of vintage wallpaper so I wanted to use the full sheet as the background.

This is the first time I've had the chance to play with this lovely line and I really like the results! It's just perfect for fall. I'm using the circle album for my October Daily.

I also added a few stamps to my page by Ali Edwards and My Mind's Eye. The buttons are by Papertrey Ink and are the Poppy color choice. Jenni's Cough Syrup Ink works beautifully with this line.

So here's the second layout I made. I traced Jenni's chipboard butterflies onto the patterned paper and cut them out. I layered those butterflies with ribbon, from my stash, and circle punched accents topped with one of the little letter stickers from the banner sheet. As you can tell, I could not resist cutting out strips of the candy drops paper.

I got the idea to color in the letter stickers from my fellow design team member, Lisa Dickinson. I thought that was such a great idea! I used a brown Sharpie marker to make the letters a contrasting color to the background. I also used the JBS Chili Powder Re-inker mixed with water in a spritz bottle to mist the die cut paper.

I also sewed around each one of my butterflies before I glued them down. Nothing perfect but I liked the added definition to the edges of the butterflies. Since my daughter's shoes just kind of pop out of the photo right at ya, I thought I would bring just a touch of pink into the layout with the vintage lace ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Dime Store YUM! from Celeste Smith

Just can't get enough of the "Tangerine Dream" in the 2nd Quarter Dime Store Kit? We can't either! Here's one more from Celeste Smith who writes, "With all of those inspiring Dime Store kits last week, I couldn't resist the pull of the orange and turquoise. The colors look fabulous with black and white photos. Love these colors on layouts of my boy. A little tilting and a little stitching and a fun layout is born!"

Becky Novacek and the Dime Store Kit

Today Becky Novacek brings us just about the sweetest baby boy layout I've ever seen.

She writes, "The Dime Store kit has some of my all time favorite papers and embellishments! I couldn't wait to use it! I think it works well with this newborn photo of Eli. For the banner, I simply cut the flags freehand, using the pattern papers and one of the journaling cards. I kept things simple and was able to put this layout together in an hour, which is fast for me!"

Thanks for the Dime Store inspiration Becky!

Retro Dime Store from Jenni Bowlin

Here are a couple Jenni Bowlin layouts from when "Tangerine Dream" first debuted. I don't know about you, but I never tire of looking at Jenni creations. Jenni writes, "Believe it or not, my layout title came from a billboard advertising liquor (but I thought it was perfect for a page)! I cut out a floral section from the pattern paper and used that below the photo. To age my stickers a tiny bit, I sanded them slightly after they were adhered. As a last detail I added the gold monogram crowns to each head (my husband appreciated this oh-so-much)!"

"When I made this trail of butterflies I originally had settled on stitching their flight pattern. At the last minute I decided to come up with something a little different and unexpected- hence the glitter trail! First outline your trail lightly with a pencil. Erase small sections at a time, beginning at the bottom. Dot the path with the end of a small paintbrush handle that has been dipped in Paper Glaze or clear drying liquid glue. Sprinkle on glitter and shake off excess. Continue with these steps until you have completed the flight pattern!"

In addition to the Dime Store Kit contents, these also include the Chalkboard Alpha Stickers in Brown and Gold Crown Number Rub-ons. Thanks for the inspiration Jenni!

Daniel Flanders and the Dime Store Kit

Today we have the brilliant stylings of Danielle Flanders working with our new Dime Store Kit. She is so good with the details! My favorite is the flowers and pearl peeking out of that half circle at the top. Which detail is your favorite? This is what Danielle says . . .

"I've been wanting to scrap this large photo of my daughter from last fall, but instead of writing about "fall" per se, I decided to journal about her age and how I wish she could stay little forever. Five years of nurturing her have just flown by. I cut the 12 x 12" die cut paper into 4 pieces and layered 2 of the pieces on the right hand side. The number 5 is cut out of one of the journaling cards. I added a pop of red with some felt and twine from my stash."

"I cut a number five out of the journaling card in the kit with a Papertrey Ink die and added the journaling card to a kraft card base to really make the 5 stand out! I used a chipboard button from the kit, added a journaling sticker, a punched star from the orange star paper and a blue rub on star from the alphas in the kit. I cut a word out from the text paper to add to the sentiment of the birthday card.

Having birthday cards on hand are great for all the parties my girls are invited to, so I think I'm going to make more of these. The journaling cards are the perfect size for this application."

"Love how the red twine adds just one more color to this beautiful kit."

And we love this card so much! Thanks for the inspiration Dime Store Danielle!

NEW Dime Store Kit!

We have a New Dime Store Kit available this quarter! Mint Chocolate Chip! The product is on sale for 25% off and you can find it HERE. This little kit proves that you can make delightful projects with just the basics! This little mini was made from chipboard and paper and not much else! The front of the flower was covered in patterned paper. I used the mini sized papers, so I had to use two sheets to cover it. You can't see the seam as it's under the chipboard button.

I inked the back of the flower and all the chipboard buttons with a Jenni Bowlin for Ranger Chewing Gum ink pad. The chipboard buttons are sewn to the front and back of the flower with a simple piece of string. This first page is the back of a mini diecut label paper covered in green soda label patterned paper. A little jewel tag covered in mini bookprint with a rub-on completes the look.

For the back of the decut label I cut thin strips of patterned paper to make journaling lines. The next few pages of the book are just our mini 4x4 papers. The punched flower is a hydrangea from Marth Stewart.

Cover the backs of the mini papers with 4x6 photos cut to 4x4. Easy peasy! This page is a brown bookprint mini paper inked with that same Chewing Gum ink pad. A handcut heart, another punched hydrangea and a rub-on title here.

The back of the mini-album is the product packaging from the chipboard buttons! I am notorious for recycling product packaging in my projects! Just cover both sides with patterned paper and add a photo and journaling card then embellish. Add as many mini paper pages as you'd like. This is a fun and quick project and makes a great gift!
