Ephemera and re-purposing go together~

Hi everyone~aren't these fruit labels gorgeous?  I couldn't resist including them in my next re-purpose project !!!   I will be using the vintage photo album page along with some fabulous JBS products!!!

 

 I am using the Red/Black Collection and the Heart cards (digital) cut files also. I backed the vintage photo album page with an acrylic sheet and slipped the fruit labels under filling up the cut out window of the photo album page.

 

The little bits and pieces are all JBS!! There are so many fun items in the ephemera section in the Mercantile!!!  I love using it ~

Side note~hubby and I have not had our picture taken together in years, so kids took care of that!!

Project Life

Hey everyone!  It's Jenni Hufford here today and I am sharing a little bit of Project Life using JBS cut files and products!

Today I am sharing my closing page for 2012.   I am the first to admit-- closing pages STUMP me.  I never quite know what to include.

My Project Life week runs from Monday -- Sunday.  Since December 31 fell on a Monday, I was just planning to include a photo in the prior week's spread.  That's when I had the idea that New Years Eve should be my closing page--- what better way to conclude the year??

I used many pieces from the Red/Black Collection in my spread.  It allowed me to have a Holiday theme without looking too Christmas-y.  I especially loved the clocks in the Red and Black Collection/ Mini Pattern-- the clocks were perfect for my New Years Eve theme!  The paper on the top left pocket is from the Family Tree Paper Pad.

I took so many photos on New Years Eve that I decided to include an insert on my closing page--- yea, i know, who makes an insert on the closing page!???   But that's what I love about Project Life, you can make up the rules as you go.    The JBS Cardstock Feathers were the perfect final touch.  I adhered them on top of my page protector.

I backed my insert simply with pattern paper and adhered the page protector (which is just a 12x12 page protector trimmed to fit my insert) with washi tape.

Boy Meets Girl. Girl Meets DieCut Machine.

Natalie here, and I have a confession to make. I love my diecut machine. I may have declared my adoration, out loud, on more than one occasion. I'm not quite sure how I managed to scrap before it came along.

And I couldn't have been happier when I heard JBS started releasing cutting files with their kits, and over at Jessica Sprague. I've eagerly collected each one, and I use them all the time, even on my non-JBS projects. They're just so versatile and there's tonnes of ways to use them. Let me show you what I mean.

For a start I used the stars from the 'Holiday Backdrops' as a stencil to mist over. When the mist was dry I kept it in place and selectively painted in a few of the stars with the JBS Paint Dabbers. Again I waited patiently for it to dry before outlining the stars in black pen. Lastly I popped up some of the original cut-out stars with dimensional tape and put them back in their place.

On a simpler note I used my favourite Whimsy Girl as an embellishment in the bottom corner with only the addition of some glitter to add pizazz!

Of course, you can use your diecuts for cards too because they scale to any size you like. And on this colourful card I haven't had to use much else. They do all the hard work for you.

I must have cut a few dozen of these feathers already to use for different projects and I know they're a huge hit with the rest of the DT too. But the real star of this card is the 'Love' word and Stencil Numbers. I chose '19' because that's the date of the wedding I plan on giving this card away at. But that's the beauty of die-cuts right? It allows you to personalise anything and you only have to cut what you need!

Layers, Layers, and More Layers!

Hi, Tina here today with one of my favorite types of layouts to create!  Layers, Layers, and more Layers!  I love how little peeks of color and pattern look behind photos and embellishments.

To kick it up a notch, I added several JBS Digital cut files, “under, in between, and on top of” the layers of patterned paper.  I love how the colors and pattern ‘pop out’ from behind the die cut design.  It really adds such great visual interest and fantastic texture.

In addition to layering several designs and colors, I love to layer several types of embellishments on top of, and around the layers of paper.  Stickers, die-cuts, chipboard embellishments – anything goes!  My latest obsession is to adhere my photos and embellishments with foam tape.  I love the dimension it creates. 

Lastly, I typed my 'title' - 'Let sleeping dogs lie' on a sticker and adhered it to my page with more foam tape.  I just LOVE to use my vintage typewriter for journaling and title work.

So pull out those patterned papers and use those Digital cut files and create something fabulous!  Please share them on our Customer Gallery board!  We would love to see them.

Ring in the New Year with a Garland Card!

Hi everyone!

This is Ashley today, with a fun garland card to help someone you love ring in the new year. I like the idea of sending Happy New Year cards during the holiday season, because I am never quite with it enough to get Christmas cards out on time! I like to think that everyone also enjoys good wishes for a New Year, too. 

This Happy New Year card is packaged in a piece of ledger paper included in the December JBS Mercantile Antiquarian Add-On. I just folded it over so the finished card would fit inside. I used a seal from the JBS Black Skinny alphas, stuck it to paper, ran it through my typewriter, and trimmed around the edge. I securely adhered the top portion of the seal to the top fold of the card. Then I put a TINY bit of ATG adhesive on the bottom portion of the seal that overhangs the top flap, so it is just a tiny bit sticky. This means the seal holds the card wrapper shut, but releases easily without tearing the ledger paper when it is time to open (which as you can read, is not supposed to be until 2013!)

Once opened, the recipient is greeted with a tag addressing the card to them, and an lovely pile of black and white clocks, chevrons, and dictionary paper stars. The "to" tag and the clocks are both from the new Red and Black collection Accessory Sheet paper. 

The recipient carefully begins lifting their card by pulling on the black and white chevron tab...

and the coutdown begins! The clocks begin at 10... 9... 8...

and JBS Grey Skinny Alpha numbers on the same Antiquarian Add-On ledge paper continue the countdown.

7... 6... 5...

4... 3... 2...

ONE!

Happy New Year! 

The hand-holding-a-card is also from the new Red and Black Collection Accessory Sheet paper. I typed directly on it by inserting it into my typewriter. I added a single black star sticker from the JBS Black Skinny Alpha sticker sheet for a simple embellishment at the bottom.

One last black seal is sewn at the end, to sign your name on or add a brief sentiment to. 

And, when the card is all opened, it makes a fabulous garland! Just big enough to drape across a fireplace mantle, hang from a shelf, or from the top of  a large frame.
