moving in circles..

Hi everyone, Gina here to share a layout using some cool JBS cut files. I'll admit I don't actually have a digital cutting machine so thanks to the lovely Natalie for coming to the rescue :) I've used the backdrops 1 cut file on this page..

I've used the circle and stars from the file and featured the circles in 3 different ways.. Firstly I added a bit of a random pattern over the background by dabbing some 'malted milk' paint through the circle die-cut. Next I sprayed a section of the diecut with aqua ink spray and reverse printed near the paint circles by pressing it ink side down onto the cardstock

Also I cut a couple of strips from the inked circle die-cut and layered them above and below the photo

From the star die-cut section which is in the same cut file, I've hand cut several stars and placed a red star from the apothecary sticker set inside a few of them.

The paint splatters have been made using a 'seed packet' paint dabber and few drops of aqua mist..

Christmas Tags!

Hi, Tina here today with a fun and fast holiday project. 

Christmas is less than a week away and hopefully you have all of your presents wrapped and under the tree. 

If you still have presents to wrap or last minute gifts to buy, and need a fun and festive way to add some holiday cheer to your gift, how about create a vintage tag using lots of JBS goodies?

No need to have extra tags on hand with the Die Cut and Perforated Paper Tag Sheet.  I used 3 different tags from this sheet and embellished each one with Mini Deck Cards, JBS feathers, Mini File Folders and Printed Kraft Tags.  I also added Vintage Sew On Buttons and Doily Flowers for a unique look.  (Other supplies include:  True Vintage labels, Mercantile Exclusive Label Stickers)  I finished each tag with an exclusive JBS for Jessica Sprague cut file.

Wouldn’t these look fabulous on a gift for your favorite person?  If you have wrapped all of your holiday presents, how about on a Holiday layout or card?

Christmas gifts and more~

Hi everyone~Connie here with some quick and easy gift ideas.  These do not take much time to make at all~so the good news, you still have time to craft!!!!

 

I used the super cute Silhouette mini deck of cards, to hold my lapel pin.  It is put together using the doily flowers {one of my faves}, old buttons, {JBS buttons} and a lapel pin set.

 

 

 

This is how the back looks!  I hot glued most of it!!! The next project~

 

 

I bought these adding machine key pieces from Jenni when I met her in Austin.  All I did was use a JBS button and hot glued a tack to the back of it~ like this.

The packaging is a re-purposed container that I covered with JBS Christmas 2012 paper, and tied it up with twine and super cute!!  I'm thinkin' I'm gonna put my name on this one:):):)

I used the Silhouette mini deck and the tag paper and made some gift tags or they look pretty cute on the tree!!  I added some trim and the JBS chipboard buttons also.

 

 

This one is for all you junkers' out there like me~old door knob {I added inka-gold to the knob to make it shine}, wire~ heavy is all I can tell you, ribbon and JBS stickers, button and Christmas chipboard button.  Once the wire is twisted and put through the JBS button holes, hot glue it in the center hole of the door knob. 

 

 

The last project took the longest, but you still have time:):):) really, not that long!!!!

 

 

On these Christmas trees you need the Tim Holtz rosette dies or snowflake die and some cool JBS paper.  I used Wren for these!!  The embellishments are all JBS!!!  I have enjoyed sharing these holiday projects with you and wish you and yours a very merry happy holiday!!

Sweet Memory..

Hi everyone, it's Gina here sharing a Christmas layout with you today..A favorite thing about the Christmas season in our house is the abundance of delicious treats! My girls and I just love baking and since we celebrate Christmas in Australia during summer, a very popular dessert here is pavlova - a meringue nest topped with whipped cream and fresh berries and raspberry coulis..YUM! 

On this layout I've folded, stapled and stitched a strip of diecut perforated stencil paper. The chipboard button has been painted with a couple of JBS dabbers then written on with a white gel pen.. I love being able to alter plain chipboard because I can bring in colours to balance the layout...in this case it helps balance the strong green alpha stickers on the opposite side..

Christmas 2012 Advent Tag Set

Hi everyone!

This is Ashley here today, with my first JBS Inspiration blog post as a JBS Ambassador! I was very excited to see Jenni's Christmas 2012 line and knew right away I wanted to make a home decor project with it. I loved the shade of red paired with that lovely cream colour. I couldn't resist adding in some gold and glitter, because it just doesn't feel like the holidays to me, without some shine and sparkle!

I used JBS Christmas 2012 papers, and lots of other great JBS products to make a set of 25 Christmas tags. These could be used as an advent calendar: add numbers and hang one a day, or hang them up daily on little numbered pins. I think they would also be great strung along a fireplace front as a garland, or even given away as gift tags on holiday presents. Or, how cool would they be hung on a Christmas tree? Right now I have them displayed on a large idea board frame. 

Here are all 25 tags together. I used shipping tags and some of the new JBS perforated tags for others. Some have no actual tag component at all, while some are made like fair ribbons. I tried to use a variety of supplies and really just stuck to the red, cream and gold theme. I also pulled out some of my favourite vintage supplies for this tag set. There are some very similar pieces available at the JBS Mercantile Flea Market, or that sometimes come with the JBS Antiquarian add-on kit, like vintage pen nibs, vintage trims, and vintage milk caps.

For the first four tags. I was heavily inspired thinking about fair ribbons and letters to Santa. The numeral 1 star is from the Christmas 2012 Accessory Sheet, and so is the bingo chip bordered tag behind it. For the second tag, I topped a gold tissue paper ribbon with a medium vintage flag tag and a vintage jingle bell. The lovely mini December calendar is just embellished with a leaf coated in gold German glass glitter -- and I love the simplicity of this tag. The mini envie tag is stuffed with a stamped vintage typewriter image, a vintage pen nib, and a sweet little  airmail sticker.

Lots of new JBS Christmas products in this next set, and some of my stashed faves. The bank of happiness bank note is from the Christmas 2012 Accessory sheet, and there is some full size bingo chip paper, and some mini sheet bingo chip paper. I love using button cards as a complete embellishment, and this great cream and gold JBS button card was perfect for this set! I used a 25 cent General Store postage stamp sticker, and a postage stamp label on the glitter-filled test tube. The Accessory Sheet also has some great little to-from tags, and I cut the banner out to wrap around the bottle brush tree. The happy flash card seemed like a good choice to go over the vintage eye and hook card, because, well -- Christmas is a happy time!

How awesome would these vintage test tubes be made into a set of ornaments, like the one above?

This give Silhouette mini deck card was too perfect for a Christmas tag! I layered it over one of the big red lined tags from the perforated tag paper sheet. It is topped with a paper bow made out of the mini pattern sheet. The red game card is also from the new lotto mini deck set -- love the way a non-themed piece can look perfectly festive if in the right colour! The Christmas Ribbon paper sentiment made such an easy embellishment for the game card and key tag; I think this paper is going to make holiday card-making fast and lovely! 

A red label from Red Black Line Extension IV Accessory sheet, a gift tag from the Christmas 2012 Accessory sheet, and a few pieces of paper and ribbon filled out the rest of these tags above. I really love  JBS Accessory Sheet patterned paper sheets. They are such good value, and so useful. I like cutting them up as soon as I get them and store the pieces in with my other labels and cards, so I can pull out whatever colour is needed for a current project.

I was so happy to see more of the JBS Perforated Papers released at CHA! These papers made wonderful additions to a page and can be used as journaling spots, frames, textural embellishments and even backgrounds for layouts.  The Printed Tags have to be my favorite and adorned with some ribbon and Shadow Alpha Stickers, they become quick and easy mattes for photos:

The Grid Stamp created a nice place to showcase some of the Wren papers, as well as the new Plain Chipboard Hexagons (which perfectly fit with the Quilted Stickers!)

Christmas Tag by Dina Wakley

This little Christmas tag could be used as a gift tag, or even as a card. There's just something about tags that I love. They're easy and fun, and you can adapt them to many uses.

Journaling Your Staycation (in Technicolor)

Hello, Campers!  Hopefully you've been enjoying the first two weeks of Summer Camp here on the JBS Inspiration blog.  This week's focus is on vacation journaling.  A vacation can mean many things to many people, but above all, a vacation is an escape, a reprieve from our usual routines and preoccupations.  One can vacation with a view of the Eiffel Tower, at the edge of a lake, in a cramped RV, or on a comfy couch.  Yes, even a staycation counts as a vacation.   

One of the pleasures of vacationing at home is that you can still travel -- via the pages of a book, that is, transcending time and place without the need of a passport or a wormhole.  Any chance my family had of traveling this year went out the window when puppy love interfered: we spent our would-be travel funds on our dog's knee surgery.  I have no regrets, though.  I'd like to think that we went on vacation anyway -- a book-cation, if you will.  

This layout documents my family's page-turning reading journeys (feel free to click on the pics if you'd like a closer view of the journaling).

The journaling above offers a kind of synopsis of our book-cation, but the rest of the journaling on the layout took a wee bit of planning.  I compiled a few basic questions, and my husband, daughter, and I had a fun conversation about the highlights of our summer reading lists.  I jotted down some notes as we talked about favorite books (or series), characters that endeared themselves to us, memorable scenes, favorite places to read, and whether we preferred e-books or paper. This way I could incorporate each person's voice on the layout, sneakily getting my husband and daughter to  contribute to the journaling for this page.  Although my husband, ever the joker, gave me a hard time with playful "decoy" answers at first, I think I was able to tease out a few sincere answers from him.

At times I find that figuring out what to journal can be as challenging as figuring out where and how to journal.  I knew I wanted to use the Die-Cut Circle Label Mini Papers and the Mini Classic Die-Cut Label Papers, but I decided to add a summery colorpop feel to them with the help of my trusty JBS for Ranger Re-Inkers.

I filled four mini-misters 1/4 of the way with Lemon Drops, Soap Powder, Seed Packet, and a combination of Chewing Gum and Chili Powder, and then filled them nearly to the brim with water.  I misted over the papers, mixing blue with green and red with yellow, and printed my journaling over each one.

In keeping with the whole bibliophile vibe, I tried to make the layout itself a tribute to the printed page, mixing in text papers from the JBS Haven line, adding elements from a Hodge Podge book, and creating a torn page border on the left side of the layout.

After lightly sanding the Core'dinations Country Store cardstock to reveal the numbers (which I love alongside the tower o' books that we compiled from our summer reading lists), I stamped the edge of the cardstock with a Torn Paper Border acrylic stamp, using Chili Powder dye ink. I then cut around the non-inked edges to create the "torn" effect.

Ultimately, Campers, the point is this:  regardless of where and how you are spending your vacation this summer, you most definitely have a story to share.  So share it!
