From Pinterest to Scrapbook Page | Circle Inspired

My Pinterest boards are overflowing with inspiration for fashion, cooking, home decor, and of course, scrapbooking! But it's not just layouts and sketches that provide starting points for my page designs. Recently I cam across this pin, featuring a giclee print available on Etsy:

I was drawn to the series of circles, each with their own unique texture. And since I am a huge fan of grid designs, the 3x4 arrangement of elements was a composition I knew I could replicate on a page.

Using the  October Papercrafting Kit, I cut circles slightly smaller than 3 inches in diameter from the kit papers, as well as two photos of my kids in the pumpkin patch. To mimic the texture in the inspiration piece, I added simple twine stitching to some of the circles.

october crafted kit - diy fabric heirloom pumpkins

Inspired by the dusky, cool tones of heirloom pumpkins , these pumpkins will add the perfect touch of whimsy to your mantel or shelf this year. And, I have to admit, they were pretty fun to make.

leafy layout..

Hi, Gina here sharing a Fall layout with you today..I love to get outdoors here in Australia and photograph the gorgeous Autumn leaves..so I've used them as my inspiration for this layout..

I've used the graphic leaf stencil and lots of bright mists to replicate the leaves in the photo..then stamped in between each leaf with the exclusive graphic feather..

the classic tiny dot alphabet stickers used in the title ink can be coloured easily with ink, and I've used a blue-green combination here..

adding also a scattering of bright green vintage buttons and sequins including the pot of gold and doily assortment..  Once again I've used a feather as a substitute for a leaf with a cardstock feather 

The border at the bottom of the page is made with layers of paper off-cuts, some stickers and paper tapes

Autumn Memories

I commonly have a whole stack of photos that I'm so far behind in scrapping that I have something that's appropriate for any theme. For example, even though it's now Spring here in Australia, I've still got a bunch of photos from Autumn in my pile.

In contrast to Halloween and Thanksgiving that a lot of you are celebrating in the Autumn months, we were celebrating Easter. Hence the rabbit ears... and the fact that she's hunting for Easter Eggs. But I don't want every Easter page I do to be all pastel tones and cute embellishments, so here's my Autumn Easter page in October!

For this layout I grabbed a sheet of the JBS Kraft Perforated Bank Statement paper and cut a bunch of leaves in it with my Cuttlebug. Yes, I said Cuttlebug! (Remember what it was like before the Silhouette came onto the scene?!) And I paired it with the fabulous contents of the October Papercrafting Kit. 

The die-cuts in the kit make it really easy to add a few embellishments without having to over-think it, and the copper sequins create the perfect amount of bling and sparkle!

Without much space left for journaling I've opted to hide it on one of the cards tucked behind the photo. I've jotted down some basic Autumn activities that we get up to year after year. These include things like travelling to the family farm and playing in the fallen leaves. Have you scrapped your Autumn traditions?

So aren't all of the teams Halloween and Fall creations so far just totally AWESOME?!!!!! Well I think so :)

Today I would like to share a layout I created using the fabulous Jenni Bowlin Studio October Kits.

Aren't the large gold sequins just fabulous?!!!!

One of my all time fave JBS embellishments is the buttons :)

I did have a lot of creative fun with the kits this month, here are some sneaks of some more layouts :)

October Kits | Papercrafting + Historian

The October kits are packed with everything you'd need for documenting your fall and Halloween, but they are also versatile enough to use for lots of other page themes as well! I've used the pie chart Kit Cut (free with purchase of the Papercrafting Kit) to make a layout about a typical day in the life of our dog, Shinerbock:

The bulk of the supplies on this page are from the Papercrafting Kit, but I've added in a label and die cut from the BasicGrey waterfall set in the Historian Add-On. These waterfall packs have a seemingly endless supply of die cuts, journaling cards, labels, and mini alphas (and everything coordinates perfectly!)

The pie chart was a great way to incorporate several of the fun patterned papers and bright cardstock in the kit. You could use this graph concept to illustrate your favorite things about autumn, the different types of Halloween candy your kids got trick-or-treating, or the variety of leaves that have fallen in your yard...the possibilities are endless!

Mixing JBS Releases for an Eclectic Fall Layout with Briana

Hey everybody, Briana Johnson here to share a fall page I made using several Jenni Bowlin Studio releases, some recent and some from way back when. I wanted to do something with an eclectic look using a funky fall color palette and lots of pattern. Would you believe I used 7 different lines on this layout! 

I used Circle Die Cut from Be Our Guest, Floral from Tangerine Dream, Album (one of my all time favorite JBS papers), Accessory Sheet, and Dictionary from Haven, the bingo card side of Holly Stripe from Christmas 2011, Petite Red Floral from Red & Black Collection III, Buttercup floral paper from Front Porch, and Aunt Charlotte from Family Tree available on sale right now in the paper pad - $2.50 for 42 sheets!

I also used shadow alpha stickers in orange/black (but they definitely go with orange or yellow) and red/black alpha stickers, black doily flowers, decorative delicate brads, Mercantile Exclusive label stickers in brown, mini chalkboard alpha stickers in yellow, flag banner stickers in red/ black, and brown apothecary stickers. Whew!

I traced one of Jenni’s chipboard butterflies, found HERE, on white cardstock. Then using those lines as I guide, I typed the journaling with a typewriter. I'm not going to tell you how many tries it took to get it just right. But I will say micro space is your friend. Then I cut it out, glued it onto the butterfly, used an exacto knife to clean up the edges, and finally went around the edges with an ink blending tool and JBS Malted Milk Ink.

Wednesday (a bit late) . . .

Oh! I'm so sorry! This was obviously supposed to be posted yesterday! Ooops! I got so enamoured with my day off from work that I took the day off from everything. That is so nice sometimes though, isn't it? We at JBS hope you all are having a lovely, relaxing, delicious, and blessed Thanksgiving with friends and family. We certainly count you among our blessings.

This Wednesday (or Thursday as the case may be) we bring you a new monthly feature "Wednesday Words." It's simple really; just a little list of words to help you think about and photograph the season with a little more intent. Here are this month's words:
